Jeff Brauer's Profile

Mr. Brauer began his career in the Chicago area and his first project was the Kemper Lakes Golf Course, site of the 1989 US PGA Championship. In 1984, he formed his own practice and moved to Arlington, Texas.

He has been commended for his work in such publications as Golf, Golf World and Golf Digest, which cited Giants Ridge Golf Club in Biwabik, Minnesota honored as third in the State of Minnesota. Other courses noted were Tangle Ridge Golf Course, Another Course and Another Course. The latter was touted as the best low budget project in the United States for the year 1991. The Links at Sierra Blanca in Ruidoso has been named "Best Course" in the state of New Mexico by Golf Magazine. The Avocet Course at Wild Wing Plantation was named by Golf Digest as a "Best New Resort Course" in 1994 and Canterberry Golf Course was also honored in the 1997 "Affordable Public Golf Course" category. Club currently ranks number eight in the State of Texas while Giants Ridge Golf Course in Biwabik, Minnesota was honored in the 1998 Golf Digest "Best New Upscale Public Course" category, placing eighth.

Mr. Brauer has been a member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects since 1980, serving as President in that organizations milestone "50th Anniversary" year, in 1995-1996. As president, he spearheaded developing "Environmental Principals of Golf." The book, Golf Has Never Failed Me, by Donald Ross, is a result of his efforts to produce a commemorative work for the 50th anniversary of the ASGCA.

Mr. Brauer is currently working on projects in Texas, California, Kansas, Missouri, Minnesota, and Illinois; including the new Colbert Hills Golf Course being designed for Kansas State University, the PGA Tour and the Golf Course Superintendent's Association of America. This course will be used for competitive collegiate events, as well as scientific research and education.
